Bear Hunt –
Bear Hunt – What’s next?
To hunt with us, you will need to be drawn for a Michigan Bear Hunting License, in the Bergland or Baraga Bear Management Units for either the First or Second season. The Michigan DNR regulates licenses through a lottery draw based on preference points and prior application when necessary. A First Season hunter will need approximately 3-4 preference points to be drawn in either the Bergland or Baraga unit. This means you would have had to apply and not gotten drawn or put in for a preference point for at least two years before having a realistic chance of drawing a tag for the First Season. A Second Season hunt can be drawn with 0-1 preference points in either the Bergland or Baraga Unit. Hunters have drawn second-season tags multiple years in a row. It all depends on your luck!
Contact me as soon as you decide you want to try and draw a tag in one of these hunt periods, September 9th or September 14th, 2026, for either the Bergland or Baraga unit.
The Application Period is May 1 – June 1, 2026. Once you are on my list, I will send you an email just prior to the application period opening with the information for the appropriate hunt unit and season, with the designated Hunt number for when you make your application. I will follow up with a reminder before the application period closes, just in case you forget to apply early.
Drawing Results will be posted June, 22, 2026.
Once the drawing results are posted, contact me to secure your spot as one of the limited number of hunters I will be taking for the 2026 season. I will send you detailed information about the hunt with the contract. Returning your signed contract along with your deposit will secure your hunt and give you the best opportunity for success.
I look forward to seeing you in 2026 or in the future!
